Meet Michelle
The Mill Pond Event Venue Event Coordinator
Michelle Malpass Strickland has dedicated 30 years to education and is proudly retiring from Whiteville City Schools after a lifelong commitment to serving students and her community. She has been married to her husband, Chris Strickland, for 27 years, and together they have two sons, John Carter and Davis. Their family continues to grow with the addition of their daughter-in-law, Kaydee Strickland, wife of John Carter.
Having lived in Whiteville for nearly 50 years, Michelle has a deep appreciation for her hometown and truly understands the value of bringing opportunities, experiences, and gathering spaces like The Mill Pond Event Venue to a small community. She believes venues such as this not only create beautiful celebrations, but also strengthen community connections and provide meaningful experiences close to home.
Although education was her career, Michelle discovered a passion for floral design in 2019 when her friend, Amanda Tedder Hill, invited her to help with a wedding. What began as a single opportunity quickly turned into a creative calling. After that first wedding in May 2019, Michelle was hooked, and together they have continued creating beautiful floral designs ever since.
Michelle, along with Amanda, are co-owners of “I Do Florals,” a business devoted to bringing each client’s vision to life through thoughtfully designed wedding and event florals. She finds great joy in helping make life’s most meaningful moments beautiful and memorable.
Now entering an exciting new chapter, Michelle is honored to serve her community as the Event Coordinator for The Mill Pond Event Venue. She looks forward to combining her years of planning experience, organizational skills, creativity, and floral expertise to help create unforgettable events and lasting memories for every guest who walks through the venue’s doors.
